Franz Rammig is Professor of Practical Informatics at the Faculty of CS, EE and Mathematics of the University of Paderbornn (UoP), Germany. He is the academic head of C-LAB (Cooperation between UoP and Atos, about 70 full-time researchers), member of the board of directors of Heinz Nixdorf Institute, of s-lab (Cooperation between UoP and six IT companies), of Paderborn Centre for Parallel Computing (PC2), and of UoP's International Graduate School on Dynamical Intelligent Systems. In 2002 he was appointed into the North Rhine Westphalian Academy of Sciences and Arts and in 2003 into acatec, the German Academy of Technical Sciences. In 2004 he was appointed into the Central Selection Committee of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. He has been honoured by IFIP's Silver Core and by IFIP's Outstanding Service Award.

In 1998-1999 he was Vice President of GI (Gesellschaft für Informatik), the German Informatics Society. Prof. Rammig represents Germany to IFIP and to TC10 (Computer Systems Technology) within IFIP and chaired this technical committee from 2002 till 2007. He was adviser of 2 Habilitations and about 60 dissertations. Up to now, 13 of his students obtained professorship positions. Prof. Rammig authored more than 140 publications and about 60 publications originate per year from his very active group.
