Andrew McGettrick is currently BCS representative to the General Assembly of IFIP, the International Federation for Information Processing. He served as Vice-President (VP) of the BCS from 2004 - 2011:
  • VP for Qualifications and Standards from November 2004 to November 2009 when the transformation of the Society occurred. As such he oversaw the work of the BCS Academic Accreditation Committee as well as the accreditation of certain industrial activity. BCS is now a member of Seoul Accord (signed in Seoul in December 2008) and of EQANIE - the European Quality Assurance Network for Informatics Education.
  • VP (Engineering and Science) of BCS from November 2009 - March 2011.
He is a member of the Board of the UK Engineering Council (2009 - present), attends meetings of the UK Science Council (2008 - present) and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh (where he has served on various committees).

He is currently chair of ACM's Education Board and Education Council, and Vice-Chair of PACE a newly formed organisation that pulls together several of the professional computing societies in the US (ACM, the Computer Society, NCWIT, AIS, CSTA and CRA-e).
